Insights from hundreds of professional truck drivers reveal how the lack of safe, accessible truck parking impacts driver safety, health, supply chain efficiency, and the environment—while outlining urgent steps industry stakeholders can take to drive meaningful change.

The Women In Trucking Association (WIT) conducted extensive research among hundreds of professional drivers on their experiences on the challenges of not having adequate truck parking or access to amenities. This whitepaper explores the various challenges and safety risks that are generated as a result of the lack of driver access to adequate parking and amenities.

This white paper covers the following:

  • The problem defined: Lack of truck parking (for every 11 drivers, there is only one truck parking space)
  • The consequences of lack of truck parking, ranging from safety, driver health and well-being, supply chain efficiency, and the environment
  • Raising awareness: The Landmark Jason’s Law by the FHWA
  • Seeking Solutions: Education of stakeholders, alternative solutions beyond truck stops, engaging shippers/receivers as part of the solution
